BIO
Taya Fedorenko is an actor and playwright from Kyiv, Ukraine now based in New York. She’s currently getting her BFA in Drama at NYU Tisch. She’s a member of Young Playwrights Ukraine where she was mentored by playwright Will Arbery.
Her play Perfect Material was directed by Peter Hedges and starred Liev Schreiber for a Zoom audience as part of YPU’s Ten-Minute Play Project. Perfect Material is included in This is Not a Dream, published by Smith & Kraus. Her writing has also been performed at The Segal Center Theatre, Lex-Ham Theater in Minneapolis, Orion Theatre in Stockholm, Sweden, and in West Bengal, India.
As an actor she performed opposite Evan Handler in her play Perfect Material at the Vineyard Theatre. She acted in Perfect Material with Kelly AuCoin and Ruins by Sasha with Brynn Gauthier at The Segal Center Theater. She also starred in Life is Absurd But Love is Good by Asia Pshenychna at The Tank. .
She’s currently working with Theresa Rebeck on a devised play by Young Playwrights Ukraine, based on interviews with acting students living with war in Kyiv.
